Senate committee hears ACFO President on pay equity

ACFO President Milt Isaacs delivered a strong statement on behalf of the FI Community when he appeared before the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights on May 25.

“We realize that we are facing tough economic times but this is not a reason for undermining fundamental human rights,” Isaacs told the Senators.

The committee is studying the Public Sector Equitable Compensation Act, which passed with the federal budget earlier this year. Isaacs asked the committee to call on government to consult more with its employees when making such substantial changes to public service administration.

“We want to be partners in this. We consider it a gift to have the opportunity to help fix the problems and to ensure that the public service remains a strong institution and a career destination of choice. Give us that opportunity.”

More information on the study can be found on the committee’s website.
