A final opportunity is being offered to the FI Community to receive free professional development under the 2017-18 Joint Career Development Program (JCDP) and to improve your leadership skills.

Emotional Intelligence Assessment

The EQ-i 2.0® Workplace Assessment (valued at $530) will allow you to evaluate your total emotional intelligence (EQ) and score on each of the 15 emotional intelligence competencies from the Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i), highlighting your strengths and potential for improvement. The insightful assessment, report and debrief on your results can go a long way towards improving your emotional intelligence and building your competencies as an FI. Should you be selected, you will:

  • complete a multiple-choice online questionnaire (approximately 20-30 minutes to complete);
  • receive a 21-page report with results interpreted in a workplace context; and
  • arrange a one-hour telephone debrief with an EQ coach scheduled at your convenience to help you interpret your results.

FMI Leadership Course

FMI has developed this industry-leading online course (valued at $400) built around the federal government’s competency model to take you on a journey of leadership discovery. Each of the 12 units is backed by research and provides an engaging and interactive mix of content followed by a journal reflection and inspirational messages. Guided by Andrew Graham, Professor at the School of Policy Studies, Queen’s University and former Federal Assistant Deputy Minister, the Leadership Course is 7.5 hours of continuous professional development for you to complete at your convenience. Should you be selected, you will:

  • explore what leadership can truly be, both personally and professionally;
  • build your leadership toolkit;
  • learn different perspectives—those of the leader and the team; and
  • be inspired by leading experts and thought leaders.

Registration

You may apply using the link in your inbox (sent Monday March 12) for an opportunity to receive a license for either program. Recipients will be selected by random draw and preference will be given to FIs who have not already received training under this year’s JCDP (excluding Tune Up events). The deadline to apply is March 23, 2018 at 8:30 am ET.

The Joint Career Development Program was launched in Fall 2017. Funded by TBS and jointly administered by ACFO and the Office of the Comptroller General, the JCDP is an annual $1M professional development fund that ACFO negotiated for its members during the last round of collective bargaining. More than 1,500 FIs have already benefitted from this year’s program through PD such as language training, CPA training, an FI-exclusive uOttawa course and professional development events across Canada. The fund will return for 2018-19 and more information will be available in the spring.

If you have any questions or did not receive the link to apply, please contact jcdp@acfo-acaf.com.
