October 17 – Toronto Tune Up PD event

The Regional Tune Up series will resume for the 2018-19 fiscal year. Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received from previous events across Canada, this fall’s FI-exclusive Toronto Tune Up will be the GTA’s first free full-day professional development event. It will feature informative and inspiring speakers, updates on ACFO initiatives and enjoyable meals with your colleagues.

Sessions and speakers

The event will take place on Wednesday, October 17, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (255 Front St W) and feature an engaging half-day workshop with emotional intelligence expert Carolyn Stern. Carolyn specializes in helping professionals maximize their potential and has helped thousands of people, including nearly 300 FIs, increase their self-confidence, make decisions and solve problems under pressure. Carolyn will apply her insight into the strengths and struggles of the FI Community to help each FI enhance their emotional intelligence and apply their newfound knowledge to improve both their professional and personal lives.

The day will also include a presentation from the Office of the Comptroller General (OCG) on developing the FI competencies and a town-hall-style lunch from ACFO. Finally, we’d be pleased to continue the discussion into the evening at a nearby pub, where appetizers and two drinks per person will be provided.

The agenda has not yet been finalized, but sessions are expected to run from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Accommodations

To ensure maximum participation and that all ACFO members of the FI Community across the Ontario Region get a chance to attend, accommodations for one night will be reimbursed for ACFO members travelling from outside of the Greater Toronto Area (more than 100 km driving distance from your home/work location).

Costs related to travel, food, etc. will not be reimbursed, so we encourage you to ask your employer to cover these costs. Only a limited number of rooms are available and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis, so don’t delay in registering!

Attendance is free and open to all ACFO members. To register, please contact us at jcdp@acfo-acaf.com indicating you would like to register for the Toronto Tune Up. Please also mention your full name, department, whether you require a hotel room and if you have any dietary restrictions, as a continental breakfast and three-course lunch will be served.

In addition, ACFO events are classified as training for FIs, so please contact us should you have any questions or concerns about getting approval from your employer to attend.

This year’s Regional Tune Up events are funded through the Joint Career Development Program (JCDP) managed by ACFO and the OCG.
