CT Academy: Management Track

Building on a successful pilot offering last year, we’re pleased to be able to offer our popular CT Academy: Management Track program in an intensive format this spring, with participants spending a week together onsite in Ottawa working through the program.

Participants will need to be available to attend training onsite in Ottawa from June 8 through June 12 inclusive. Travel support will be provided for up to six participants from outside the NCR. Participants need to complete some additional work before and after the training but timing is more flexible.

The CT Academy: Management Track is for members who are new in supervisory roles or those about to take on such responsibilities. Typically, these are members at experienced CT-FIN or CT-IAU-02s or CT-EAV-04s, or they are newly-appointed CT-FIN or CT-IAU-03s or CT-EAV-05s.

Participants will take part in classroom courses, small-group discussions and self-directed exercises related to the following topics:

  • Communicating as a leader
  • Emotional intelligence for leaders
  • Ethical leadership
  • Leading for impact

Participants will also receive a personalized EQ for Leaders report and coaching session to highlight their emotional intelligence skills and areas for growth as they navigate the process of becoming a leader.

Please confirm your availability for the full week of June 8 with your manager prior to applying to this training. This training is also being allocated via random lottery.

Classroom training

Our sought-after ethics training is being offered this spring in both languages.

Finance and audit professionals carry a heavy burden when it comes to workplace ethics. With a direct line of sight into the financials of an organization and with access to the books that serve as the basis for reporting, it’s no wonder that integrity and ethical conduct are cornerstones of the profession.

This course explores the issues related to ethics for finance and audit professionals with a specific focus on common issues in public sector workplaces. From attestations to disclosing wrongdoing and even ethical considerations in your daily interactions with coworkers, this hands-on course covers a wide range of relevant topics and practical examples of ethical issues public sector professionals could face in their careers.

  • Upholding Workplace Ethics (English – in-person in Ottawa) – Tuesday, June 16
  • Upholding Workplace Ethics (French – online) – Tuesday, June 23

Eligibility

All programs being offered in the spring semester this year are open to all ACFO-ACAF public service members, with the restriction that only NCR members are eligible for the Regional Interchange and only regional members are eligible for the NCR Interchange.

For all programming allocated via the JCDP lottery, members are given an equal chance of being selected subject to the following conditions:

  • Members who received free training through the JCDP in the previous calendar year are deprioritized in the lottery. This doesn’t mean they can’t be selected, it only means that members who didn’t receive training at all will get first priority.
  • Members who have participated in an Interchange at any point, not just in the last year, will be given lowest priority for the interchange slots.
  • Members can only participate in the CT Academy: Management Track once.

If you have any questions about the JCDP, please contact jcdp@acfo-acaf.com.
