After a successful pilot last year, ACFO-ACAF, in conjunction with the Office of the Comptroller General, is pleased to announce the launch of the CT Mentorship Program as part of the Joint Career Development Program.
This program will run from September through March, offering newer members a chance to connect with and learn from a fellow or former member of the CT Community.
How the program works
Members of the CT Community can apply to be mentors (more experienced members looking to share their experience and advice) or mentees (newer or less experienced members looking for guidance and support).
ACFO-ACAF staff will review the applications and match mentors with mentees based on the responses in the application forms.
Mentor/mentee pairings will be expected to meet at least once a month between September and March at their convenience, either online or in person. ACFO-ACAF will provide guides and frameworks for those meetings, but ultimately it will be up to the participants to figure out how to make the most of their time together.
We will do our best to maximize participation, but the number of pairings will be capped at 50 as we expand the program from the smaller pilot last year.
Application criteria
To qualify as a mentee, applicants must be ACFO-ACAF members.
To qualify as a mentor, applicants should have at least five years of experience in a CT position. Mentors can be ACFO-ACAF members, retirees, or executives with experience in finance or audit roles. We also strongly encourage members from equity-seeking groups (women, racialized communities, people with disabilities, and Indigenous Peoples) to apply for mentor or mentee roles. Your unique experiences and perspectives can help build a more inclusive, supportive, and enriched CT Community.
How to apply
If you’re new to the CT Community or otherwise looking for an experienced colleague to help you grow in your career, you can apply to be a mentee here: https://acfo-acaf.swoogo.com/mentorship2025-mentee
If you’re an experienced or former member of the community looking to share your experiences and help provide advice and insight, you can apply to be a mentor here: https://acfo-acaf.swoogo.com/mentorship2025-mentor
Please ensure you discuss your interest in this program with your supervisor prior to applying to ensure you will be able to commit to the monthly meetings.
And please feel free to share this with colleagues who might be a good fit!
Note that while we will make every effort to pair you with someone that matches your interests, we can’t guarantee we will be able to match you with someone who will fit all of your preferences as indicated on your application form.
The deadline for applications is August 24 at 11:59 pm ET.
Next steps
Applications will be reviewed by ACFO-ACAF staff and selected participants will be notified on August 29. More information will be provided to mentors and mentees at that time. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Mercedes Rivoire (mrivoire@acfo-acaf.com).
