Stand up for remote work: Sign the House of Commons petition

For years, ACFO-ACAF has called on the employer to embrace remote work as part of the future of the public service. Public servants seamlessly transitioned to working remotely during the pandemic, ensuring that Canadians maintained access to the essential services they rely on. In doing so, the clear benefits of this model became evident, improving employees’ day-to-day quality of life while maintaining the high standard of service Canadians deserve.
Our members have made it clear that they share our perspective on the importance of maintaining flexible workplace models, and for that reason we’re asking that you take a few minutes to sign the following petition.
House of Commons petition e-7142 calls on the federal government to update the Canada Labour Code to guarantee that federally regulated employees whose job functions are primarily computer-based shall have the right to perform their work remotely for a minimum of three (3) days per week, unless their role is in emergency, medical, caregiving, or other functions where physical presence is demonstrably essential.
ACFO‑ACAF is encouraging members to sign this petition in solidarity with our fellow public service unions and in recognition that remote work benefits not only workers, but also the Canadians who rely on the services they provide.
