Introduction to Power BI

This two-day course is designed for those with little to no experience with data visualization using Microsoft Power BI. This intensive course will take participants from basic principles and concepts behind data visualization through best practices in using Power BI, concluding with a chance to apply the learned concepts in a truly hands-on and immersive way. This course has been developed in partnership with Daxel’s Julie Foucault, a Microsoft Certified Professional Associate in Business Intelligence Reporting.

Format: Seven hours per day plus breaks x two days
Member cost: $800 plus HST ($1,300 value)

Fundamentals of Communication

Ensure you have the ability to get your message across in an effective way. Participants will learn about the fundamentals of persuasive communication with a specific focus on scenarios and document types that will be familiar to anyone who works in a finance, accounting or audit function. You will walk away more comfortable with public speaking; email etiquette; preparing briefing notes; and more. Participants will also learn how to identify and categorize client / audience types, to help refine and tailor communications products to suit their needs.

Emotional Intelligence at Work

June 1-2 (7 CPD hours)

Emotional Intelligence at Work offers a comprehensive learning experience for professionals to learn, practice, and implement specific tools and tactics to build their emotional intelligence (EQ) in the workplace. Participants will walk away with a deeper understanding of their soft skills and those of their peers, which ultimately leads to impacting and improving their self-perception, communication, interpersonal, decision-making and stress management skills.

The course will also include a personalized EQ-i 2.0® assessment complete with a 21-page report, a highly useful tool for participants to gauge their strengths and areas for development in the context of the workplace.

The first half-day will focus on leadership implications of EQ and the 15 competencies of the EQ-i 2.0® model, while the second half-day will focus on strategies for enhancing your EQ, with tips on how to apply and integrate these concepts in your work.

Note: This course and its materials will be provided in English only. However, assessments can be administered and delivered in French and the course instructor is bilingual.

Office Politics: Increasing the Impact of Your Influence

Political Skills: Increasing the Impact of Your Influence is suitable for professionals at all levels looking to increase their impact and position themselves well on their career path. Participants will be able to: network with different members from other departments; complete a quiz to learn their political influence style; understand and recognize the styles of other ‘political players’ in their environment; understand the political position that best advantages them; effectively and ethically influence people with whom they interact; have their recommendations accepted and interests of their group defended; and apply their newfound skills toward achieving a promotion.

Emotional Intelligence for Leaders

June 15-16 (7 CPD hours)

Leading with Emotional Intelligence is a course specifically designed for managers and leaders in the workplace to gain a greater understanding of the impact of their emotional intelligence in their role as a leader. Participants will explore the ties between emotional intelligence and leadership, as well as how to lead their team more in a more emotionally intelligent way.

The course includes a personalized EQ-i 2.0® assessment complete with a 27-page report, where participants can see how their emotional intelligence measures up in a leadership context, as well as how their scores relate to four pillars of leadership.

The first half-day will focus on leadership implications of EQ and the 15 competencies of the EQ-i 2.0® model, while the second half-day will focus on strategies for enhancing your leadership through EQ, with tips on how to apply and integrate these concepts.
