Based on data provided to ACFO-ACAF by OCHRO, we wanted to share with the CT Community important Public Service Employee Survey (PSES) results about departmental sentiment that could inform your career choices.

This data is centered around one question in the PSES, “Q.53: I would recommend my department or agency as a great place to work,” where ACFO-ACAF requested the data for departments with at least 30 CT-FINs. Unfortunately, the employer was unable to share data for CT-EAVs and CT-IAUs as the dataset wasn’t large enough.

The top three departments in this category were:

  1. Transport Canada (92 out of 100)
  2. Canadian Heritage (91)
  3. Employment and Social Development Canada (90)

The bottom three departments were:

  1. Correctional Service Canada (50 out of 100)
  2. Statistics Canada (59)
  3. Indigenous Services Canada and Public Health Agency of Canada (65)

The complete dataset for all 29 departments, including the variance from 2021 to 2023, can be found here.

Much like with ACFO-ACAF’s State of the Community Survey, the results of which will be published in the coming weeks, we plan to share these results with senior management to identify high-performing departments and advocate for improved results at the department level year over year.

We hope this information can also be of value to you when making important choices about your career. However, while departments have varying results at a high level, it’s important to keep in mind that individual experiences may vary. When deciding which department to work for, it’s important to take into consideration who your direct report and coworkers will be.
