Pension Litigation Update: Federal Court Denies Appeal
On October 8th 2010, the Ontario Court of Appeal dismissed our appeal in the Pension Surplus Litigation.
This decision is disappointing. The Courts have again failed to address the federal government’s unilateral appropriation of $30 billion in Public Service Superannuation account surplus and subsequent increase to member contribution rates.
ACFO and the other affected bargaining agents will review the decision over the next few weeks, in order to determine whether an appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada will be initiated.
