As you know, cannabis has been legalized across Canada. ACFO is aware that some members may have questions relating to cannabis use and the workplace. We encourage FIs to adhere to the same standards of common sense and professionalism in this as you do in all other aspects of your work. We recommend that you treat recreational cannabis like tobacco, in terms of being aware and conscientious of second-hand smoke issues, and alcohol, in terms of ensuring use does not impact work performance. Medicinal marijuana is a separate issue and in this case the duty of accommodation applies.
