Information on the Canadian Armed Forces sexual misconduct class action settlement

By now, current and former Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and employees of the Department of National Defence (DND) and/or Staff of the Non-Public Funds, Canadian Forces (SNPF) should have been notified that the Government of Canada has agreed to a proposed settlement relating to several class action lawsuits regarding sexual misconduct that were initiated on behalf of current and former military members and civilian employees.

All information about the class action, proposed settlement and process going forward can be found here: https://www.classaction.deloitte.ca/en-ca/Pages/CAF-DNDsexualmisconductclassaction.aspx.

The current phase of the process is the settlement approval hearing at the Federal Court in Ottawa. Instructions for how to participate in the hearing can be found at the link above. Confirmation of participation must be submitted by August 30. It is important to note that if you have been affected but are unable or choose not to participate in the hearing, you may still be eligible to obtain the benefits of the settlement should it be approved by the Federal Court.

If you have been affected and have specific questions about the class action, proposed settlement or process, we encourage you to contact the CAF DND Sexual Misconduct Class Action at cafdndmisconduct@deloitte.ca or 1-888-626-2611. If you have further questions or require additional support, you can contact an ACFO-ACAF Labour Relations Advisor at labourrelations@acfo-acaf.com or 1-877-728-0695.
